Business Development Manager
As a Business Manager, you’ll take ownership of identifying, pursuing, and closing high-value and significant new business opportunities, focusing on mid-market and enterprise clients.

We’re looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to play a key role in shaping our growth, securing new business opportunities, and driving strategic client engagements. Working closely with our strategy and leadership teams, you’ll help position Inlight as a trusted partner in the digital product space—crafting innovative solutions that deliver real value to our clients.
You’ll join a team of 40+ friendly Inlighters, working flexibly between home and our purpose-built Clifton Hill office, designed with hybrid work in mind.
About the Role
As the Business Development Manager, you’ll take ownership of identifying, pursuing, and closing high-value and significant new business opportunities, focusing on mid-market and enterprise clients. You’ll lead strategic conversations, collaborate with our internal teams to craft compelling proposals, and play a pivotal role in shaping how we engage with prospects, moving beyond traditional project-based work to long-term, value-driven partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive New Business Growth - Own and exceed revenue targets through proactive prospecting, consultative selling, and strategic targeting of high-potential sectors.
- Build & Manage a Strong Pipeline - Develop and maintain a healthy flow of qualified opportunities through inbound/outbound efforts, product-led campaigns, and compelling proposals.
- Lead Strategic Sales Engagements - Facilitate discovery and solutioning workshops during the sales process, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and collaborate with internal teams to secure and transition new business opportunities smoothly.
- Optimise Outbound Programs - Work with the Leadership Team to implement and refine outbound strategies, leveraging tools like Apollo and HubSpot for targeted lead generation, automation, and data-driven optimisation.
- Own End-to-End Proposal Development - Drive the creation of high-quality proposals by coordinating internal teams, shaping solution designs, crafting compelling commercial models, and ensuring an efficient, structured response process.
- Shape Market Intelligence & Strategic Growth - Monitor industry trends, analyse competitors, and identify new opportunities to refine Inlight’s service offerings and go-to-market strategy, providing valuable insights to leadership.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 5+ years in business development within digital agencies, technology consulting, or a related field (not SaaS/software).
- Proven Success: A track record of securing new enterprise deals ($300K+), managing complex B2B sales, and driving revenue growth.
- Consultative Selling: Ability to uncover client challenges and align solutions to their strategic objectives.
- Technical Understanding: Familiarity with digital product development and modern sales tools (HubSpot, Apollo, etc).
- Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation skills, with experience developing pricing strategies and proposals.
- Relationship Builder: Excellent communication skills with the ability to quickly build trust with senior stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinker: Ability to identify new opportunities, drive market positioning, and influence business strategy.
While we're targeting 5+ years of business development experience, we welcome applications from more senior sales professionals who are passionate about building and growing new client relationships.
